"Anything" is a song by rapper Jay-Z that is found on Beanie Sigel's 1999 album The Truth. It is produced by Sam Sneed and P. Skam, who sample Lionel Bart's "I'll Do Anything" for the track's beat and chorus. The sample from Oliver! heavily popularized "Anything" as did the Annie sample on "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)." "Anything" is a bonus track on Jay-Z's album Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter as is "Anything (Mr. Drunk Mix)" on the Japanese version of the album.

Jay-Z admitted to Angie Martienz in his '09 interview Food For Thought, that he hoped the song would be a success like Hard Knock Life due to their similarites. But was surprised when it wasn't, even saying "I dropped the record and then nothing".

Jay-Z later released another song named "Anything" that is found on his 2006 album Kingdom Come.

Acclaim

The song is generally well-received and considered to be one of the best track's on Beanie Sigel's album even though Sigel does not perform it. As Steve Juon says:

I think it's fairly evident that 'The Truth' about this album is that a lot of people are going to confess having bought it for the bonus Jay-Z song "Anything" which was cut from the American release of "Volume 3". Call the Oliver Twist sample cornball if you like but the simple truth is this sequel to "Hard Knock Life" is hotter than anything Beanie spit solo.[1]
