Apple-Group
The Apple-Group board is an online forum where Apple product users (computers, phones, etc.) may post questions about their products.
There is also a popular section where members may converse with one another about nearly whatever comes to their minds.
The board features a close-knit group of users who also participate in IRC, folding and an occasional podcast.
History and Origin
Apple-Group.com is an off-shoot forum of a similar corporate bought out board.
First devised in early August 2006, it became an actual forum on August 18th, 2006 Apple-Group.com.
It took four more days before the forum was opened to visitors.
It has been slowly growing since.
The corporate board (iNet) which owned the forum many of the members transfered was known as Mac-Forums.
Apple-Group was designed and structured to keep the friendly atmosphere that Mac-Forums possessed in the earlier days of that board.
Apple-Group is under the control of two people, which makes it nearly impossible for it to be sold to another corporation like iNet.
Folding
Apple-Group has a Folding team with Folding@Home.
Folding is a method of using remote computers to help facilitate scientists who are looking to cure a wide range of diseases.
Although folding proteins is still not necessarily a root to finding cures, today it still cannot be ignored.
The Apple-Group team is small but determined and doing their part to help the world.
The team rank of the "Apple-Group folding team" on January 22nd 2007, is 1,325.
They have processed 982 WUs at 2,312 points per hour for a total of 271,568 points.
IRC
Many members who participate at Apple-Group.com also visit the "#apple-group" IRC channel at "irc.freenode.net" In this channel visitors may ask for direct help with their Apple products or socialize with other members visiting the same channel.
