The Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) is a building professionals organization in Kenya. Membership is drawn from five major disciplines:

  • Architects
  • Quantity surveyors
  • Engineers
  • Town planners
  • Landscape architects[1]

Landscape architecture is a new practise in Kenya, first inaugurated in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. It deals with design of open spaces ranging from residential to public space. It entails design of plazas (foyers, street plazas, mixed and pedestrian malls), squares, parks (neighbourhood, mini, public parks), golf courses, town aesthetics.

A landscape architect will charge 12.5% of the project cost according to the Kenyan constitution. They will also charge between Ksh 4000 and 6000 per hour for a site visit during feasibility studies of the project or during the actual works; however, the amount can be negotiated with the client.
