Arden Wohl,
is a 24 year old New York
Philanthropist, and budding film
director, who has just
graduated from
NYU.
A hard
working, charity-minded and environmental activist, Wohl is often
described as the "Anti-Socialite." She is currently working on a
movie that will bring attention to the plight of sexually abused
and neglected children:
The Playground Project.
Wohl
belongs to a well-heeled New York family, who are extensivly
involved in the art community. Her father,
Larry Wohl, is a real-estate mogul, and the
art collection of her grandparents, Ronne and
Joseph S Wohl. Featuring
Matisse,
Monet,
Braque and
Modigliani, sold for a hefty sum at Sotheby's.
Wohl and her family are involved extensivly in helping the less
fortunate.
The aspiring filmmaker is being called the earthy
antidote to the beau monde's bevy of "blond ambition". Wohl
recently told a popular magazine: "People have been telling me that
I should get a publicist. I'm like, who am I, one of those girls? I
hate those girls."
"I mean, I don't hate the nice ones, the ones
I've known since I was four... I'm on the committees for a lot of
things, but I don't go to a lot of events." So why put on a party
dress for
Operation Smile, then? "I feel bad for kids'
palates."
She has raised significant funds for "
The Nest
Foundation", a New York Charity:
The purpose of the Nest
Foundation is to raise awareness of the commercial and sexual
exploitation of children around the world, most especially those
who are trafficked within the United States. Charity begins with
homes for exploited Children The foundation will additionally
support organizations providing assistance and rehabilitation to
victimized children and will alter mainstream perceptions of
so-called "damaged youth." The NEST foundation, "a total of
$150,000 was raised (pre-expenses)
Wohl, who majored in film at
New York University film
school, is currently producing a documentary, the afore
mentioned
The Playground Project, about the
same cause—with
George Clooney and
Steven
Soderbergh. It is hoped this movie will help raise awareness
for sexually abused children.
She recently finished the short
Coven, a bizarre, arty,
sensual interpretation of “Hansel and Gretel” that premiered last
year at Art Basel Miami. A film which was narrated by noted actress
Leelee
Sobieski. The musical score was performed by award winning
director
Jordan Galland, and stared recording artist
and model
Domino
KirkeWohl’s currently writing a feature film and is
pursuing her interest in several causes, including the global
