History and Location
Area 10 Project Space
Peckham was initiated in 2002 in
Peckham,
Southwark, UK. It is based in a disused Timber
Warehouse called Eagle Wharf on Peckham Square next to
Peckham
Library.
Eagle
Wharf
has a long history on the
Grand Surrey Canal. From 1919 to 2002 it
was family run Timber Yard. In the early days, the wood arrived at
Eagle Wharf in the long barges. These had been pulled by Horses up
the tow paths of the Grand Surrey Canal from the Surrey Docks at
Rotherhithe
where the timber had been shipped from around the
world. In 2002 the Timber Yard moved next
door to a purpose build
warehouse.
Area 10 PSP is so called in
reference to
Brodmann area 10. It is thought to be
involved in processes such as
abstract thinking, cognitive
flexibility,
planning,
multi-function, rule acquisition, initiating appropriate actions
and inhibiting inappropriate actions, and selecting relevant
sensory
information.
