The term area TG of Bonin-1947 refers to an area of the temporal lobe of the macaque defined on the basis of cytoarchitecture.
It is located at the temporal pole.
It differs from area TA of Bonin-1947 in that the cortex is quite thick, especially the internal pyramidal layer (V) and the multiform layer (VI) whose mutual boundary is indistinct.
Except for the boundary between the molecular layer (I) and the external granular layer (II), all of the boundaries are unclear.
"These alterations cause TG to resemble FF (area FF of Bonin-1947) on the orbital surface of the FRONTAL LOBE, with which it is intimately connected."
