Armor Games is a website based in Irvine, California that hosts free Adobe Flash games. Armor Games was founded by Daniel McNeely.[1][2] The site hosts a variety of games across many genres, from puzzle to shooter to strategy. It also has a video game development studio that creates free flash games.

It is common for sequels to semi-popular games to become very popular. Also, for sequels to already-popular games, such as "Sonny 2", Armor Games promotes the sequels on its blog, which it does not do regularly for other games.[3]

The site used to be known as "Games of Gondor", but was forced to change names because of potential copyright infringements with The Lord of the Rings. The site was known for making content revolving around The Lord of the Rings. There are still remnants of the old site around the web, including games left with its old branding.[4]

Armor Games is a Flash games website started in 2004. The site has over 500 flash games. Many of the games on the site are uploaded to Newgrounds as well.

Originally, the site was called "Games of Gondor", in reference to J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Sponsorship and contests

Armor Games has been known to give sponsorship deals to artists and game developers which produce quality content. For exchange of a banner and a few links to the Armor Games website, Armor Games provides funding for their efforts. The artists also retain the rights to their game or animation code and Flash file.

There have been several contests held by Armor Games. The contests provide Flash developers a way to produce flash content that can compete with others by vote, in order to win prizes. The score of the submission (made possible by Newgrounds, an online Flash portal) provides a ranking system, which determines who the winner is going to be for that Flash contest. The contest also awards other smaller prizes to developers, in mini contests, which offer a way for developers to win prizes even if they do not produce the most popular work.
