Aaron Aronov is the leader in the movement to
preserve Bukharian
history and culture and the director of the Museum for the Heritage
of Bukharan
Jews.
Background
Aronov is a resident of
Queens,
New York, and an active member of the Bukharian Jewish
Congress. The museum was initially located in the basement of
Aronov's Rego Park home, known mostly to visitors and close
friends. With the construction of a Bukharian Jewish Gymnasium, a
Yeshiva for elementary school age, the museum took up a more
prominent location. It has since been visited by prominent local
elected officials, as well as diplomatic officials from
Uzbekistan and
Tajikistan. Aron
has also been educated and self taught in 9 different languages. He
has worked as a translator for Richard Nixon, Lal Bahadur Shastri,
and also for the UN. His family is composed of his wife, two
daughter, and two grandchildren. His youngest daughter, Julie is
married to Fashion Guru; Domenico Vacca.
