Arrow Engineering Components Ltd was founded in 1981 by its present Managing Director, Russell Arrowsmith, who recognised a need from companies in the [Salford] and
Trafford Park areas engaged in the
manufacturing, processing and engineering industries for essential components such as
bearings to be delivered urgently around the clock.<ref>ArrowEngineering - who we are</ref>
History
For the first 6 years Arrow operated as a mechanical parts supplier acting as a distributor for leading manufacturers of
bearings and
power transmission components.
In 1987 Arrow moved to their existing premises on Liverpool Street,
Salford and implemented their own in-house engineering machine shop.
The new premises allowed room for larger holdings of stock, a trade counter, offices and the new machine shop enabling them to manufacture one off complimentary items to the off the shelf products.
1994 saw the next stage of expansion for Arrow, acquiring local competitor Express Engineering and diversification into Anti-Vibration
Mountings and Flexible
Couplings.
These additional investments helped boost
turnover.
An attempt of expanding into other industrial geographical areas failed, after opening four more branches throughout 1994 to 1996, a spate of bad debts hit and the company experienced a consolidation period throughout the next four years (ending 1999 to 2002) as a result turnover dropped dramatically.
After 2002, Arrow invested heavily in machine tools and strengthened the engineering side of the business by acquiring MS90 a specialist Gear Cutting company and other Gear machinery from Stockport Gear, as a result this department now represents 50% of turnover.
Presence
In December 2006 Arrow launched its own website
Fish4Parts which incorporates mechanical, electrical, plumbing and Site & Safety products creating a one stop shop for mechanics, electricians, plumbers and general
DIY enthusiasts.
