Art Miami [www.Art-Miami.com Art Miami] is the
most important contemporary satellite art fair during the first
week of December in Miami, Florida. The first edition of the Fair
took place in 1989.
More than 115 leading national and
international galleries participate each year. The five-day event
features exhibits of 20th and 21st century works by emerging,
mid-career and career artists through a prominent selection of
European, American and Asian, modern and contemporary art, as well
as a program of special exhibitions and curatorial projects,
outdoor sculptures and video installation. This year’s main
sponsorship is BlackRock, the nation’s largest asset
manager.
In 2008, Nick Korniloff joined the Fair as Director,
guiding the artistic direction and overall development of Art
Miami’s events and activities.
Art Miami continues to
establish a distinct identity for itself as a leading independent
art fair, attracting a broad collector base and more than 20,000
attendees in 2007. The Fair offers an inviting ambience through the
depth and quality of its exhibited art within a more than
100,000-square-foot venue. Being held in 2008 for the first time in
the Midtown Miami Arts District, a $2.3 billion mixed-use
neighborhood reminiscent of New York’s classic SoHo District, the
unique environment complements Art Miami’s contemporary vibe. Art
enthusiasts, collectors and general patrons can join together to
view exhibiting artists, while experiencing a true art fair in its
urban surroundings during the world’s most-talked-about art fair
season.
