Art Party at The Salon for Geniuses is a social gathering of artists in New York City at Hotel Chelsea three times per year. The gathering is hosted by Ellen Frances and attendees have included James J. Williams III, Lauren Flax, Daryl Palumbo, Zachary German, Ben Dickinson , Emily Anderson, Erin Lennox, Todd Zuniga, Patrick Cleandenim, Tao Lin, Nicholas Kratochvil, James Yeh, Julian Gilbert, Catherine Foulkrod, Dawn Landes and Danny Cassidy; among others.

Footage captured in New York was sent to Paris in 2008, where french film maker Lisa Paclet created Chelsea Hotel. It is now on Cube Creative France website [1]

The events inspired the zine DINOSAUR, produced by Ellen Frances. It included short interviews with selected artists who attended the Art Party, as well as clippings and documentation of art work created during the party. The zine was made available at Art Basel in the winter of 2008.

Art Party at The Salon for Geniuses was written up on Living With Legends: Hotel Chelsea, in which author Ed Hamilton writes

"...the real shame is that young artists like this can’t move in here anymore. We need people like this who understand what the Chelsea is about, even if they don’t take it all that seriously – especially if they don’t. Otherwise we’re just a bunch of Bohemian has-beens growing ever older as we stew in our own juices. Stanley, to his eternal credit understood this better than anyone: you can’t have Bohemia without the young."[1]

The event has been held in Suite 822 (most known as the setting of Warhol's Chelsea Girls and The Closet starring Nico) and Suite 103, where Sid Vicious killed Nancy Spungen in 1978.
