Art Decade is an
Alternative Rock/
Progressive Rock band
from Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Current members of Art Decade include guitarist and vocalist, Ben Talmi, bassist Luis Granda, and drummer Brandon Lewis.
The band formed in 2007 at a Las Vegas night club during the summer.
The band has released two albums under the guidance of SMI Music Group.
2007's Androgny Is In Ep was released to critical acclaim.
The band continue to work on their debut Lp "Tales of Tennis."
Background
Starting out in the
Denver, Colorado,
Punk Rock scene, Ben Talmi always felt ostracized by his band mates because he felt his playing was rooted in an entirely different style.
Talmi often immitated the guitar stylings of
Bill Wennington, and
Tim Heidecker, a strange opposition to the style of music he was playing.
Talmi was involved in a
hardcore punk trio called "Bombastic Bomb and the Bartlets Apple Orchard Security Chief."
After the release of a short Ep titled "Dicks in yo' mouff", Talmi left the group citing creative differences.
Talmi moved to Las Vegas to continue his music career, but had a strong lack of success.
Talmi wound up stripping to pay for his rent in some of the downtown Vegas strip shows.
Talmi while working met bassist Luis Granda.
Together the two discussed their creative similaritys.
The two decided to form a band.
Granda enlisted the help of friend, and former
White Zombiedrummer, Brandon Lewis.
The three worked together begining in the fall of 2006.
2007 marked a big year for the power trio as they released their first Ep "Androgny Is In."
The album was met with some success, but critics in local papers felt it was "lacking in drive".
The three returned to the studio later that year to begin working on their newest album.
Set to be released in 2008, "Tales of Tennis" will feature the bands latest works, and what they refer to as "an artistic orgasm."
Guitar World magazine sent out an exclusive preview of the album in their April 2008 issue.
Fans have raved over the preview, and the new album is highly anticipated.
Controversy
On
November 19th, 2007, Art Decade preformed a show at
The Troubador in California.
Talmi during the song "Fake The Art" removed his pants, and placed his testicals on the head of a male security guard near the stage.
Talmi was subsequently arrested for indecent exposure, and was released on $50,000 bond the next day.
Talmi currently awaits a hearing set to be held on April 6th, 2008.
Talmi has publicly apologized the incident, stating that he was "paying homage to
Marilyn Manson for his birthday.
However,
January 5th is actually Manson's birthday.
Contradictary to reports, Talmi was not weeping when preforming the act.
Talmi had just been maced by Luis Granda as part of an onstage antic.
