The Aryabhatta Maths Competition is a prestigious Mathematics'
Competition held every year in
New Delhi,
India. It is held for 2 classes - Grade 5 and Grade 8.
The test is held at the Summer Fields School,
New Delhi,
India. It is a very competitive examination. Each
of the participating schools have to send a team of 10 students,
both in Class 5 and Class 8. The school average is calculated on
the basis of the performance of these 10 students. There is also a
lot of individual participation in this competition. There is no
difference in the awards for students who participate individually
to those who represent there school.
The Awarding
Scheme
All the participants obtaining 65% or more in the
examination get a merit certificate. The students getting more than
75% in Class 5 get an award of Rs 100/- along with the certificate.
The students securing the top 10 positions get special appreciation
and awards. The winning school gets a rolling trophy. There is a
different winner for each Class.
The History
The
Competition was first held in 1983. It has, since then, been held
every year. In the past decade ( 1997-2007),
The Mother's International
School has won most times in the Class 5 part of the
examination. In Class 8, there has been no regular winner, changing
exery year, but for the past 2 years (2005-2007), the trophy has
been going to the Delhi Public School, Faridabad.
