Ashlesha is the name of a daughter of Prajapati Daksha; she is one of the wives of Chandra. She is personified as a nakshatra, and is best known as that, especially in South Indian astrology: Jyotisha.

Under the traditional Hindu principle of naming individuals according to their birthstar, the following Sanskrit syllables correspond with this nakshatra, and would belong at the beginning of a first name:

Di (pronounced as in "independant")

Du (pronounced as in "hindu")

De (pronounced as in "Tuesday")

Do (pronounced as in "do re mi")
