Ashlee Vance (born 1977) is an American business columnist.

Born in South Africa, Vance grew up in Houston, Texas and attended St. John's School. He now works in Mountain View, California.
Vance is primarily known for writing for The Register from March 2003[1] to August 2008,[2] but moved to the New York Times in September 2008.[3] Vance covered companies such as IBM, HP, Intel, and Dell, and also writes about a wide range of technology topics, including robots and Segway scooters. He tends to write in a sarcastic, cynical tone, much as one would read in MAD Magazine.
Vance has written a book, called Geek Silicon Valley, on the history of the Silicon Valley.[4] His writing often also appears in such publications as the The Economist, Chicago Tribune, CNN.com, the Globe and Mail, the International Herald Tribune, and CNET.
Vance hosts an audio podcast called Semi-Coherent Computing,[5][6] in which he discusses enterprise computing topics such as Datacenter cooling and blade servers, and interviews notable guests including chip pioneer David Ditzel of Transmeta, Sun Microsystems, and Bell Labs.[7]
