Mass media is known to shape thought, change attitudes and move people to action. The potential of film for facilitating development or damaging the society is indeed enormous. The same can be said for power of television in shaping peoples lives. Communicating to the audience is a challenge. Communicator not only must know what to communicate but also how to communicate to be able to influence the audience who possess diverse character. The effective communicator cannot rely on hunches and intuition to capture and hold the attention of the mass-audience. He has to interact with the audience to seek their input. International Film & Television Research Center (IFTRC) will address itself to this complex task of conducting research with the audience on programming and its effectiveness. It will encourage and popularize the concept of mass media and will train media researchers to aid better TV programming and film making.
Aims
India has the distinction of producing the largest number of films in the world. Around 900 feature films in 24 languages/dialects are made in the country every year. Close to 165 satellite television channels currently available to the viewers in the country require production of thousands of hours of programs annually. Film making and television program production activity now is both hectic and challenging.
There is a view in the film industry that the film and television professionals need to be supported in their work by the connoisseurs of film and television arts. With this in view, International Film & Television Club was established. The institution has 63 centers all over the world and the alumni of the academy handle its business every year.
Its aims are
Being that India is a prime leader of peace and ancient spirituality while at the same time the largest film producing country in the world, IFTC has now decided to promote the fifth biggest film festival of India, the Global Festival Of Films on Peace and Spirituality.
International Film and Television Club has its annual festival of short films. The festival is divided into two parts: the films made in India and those made abroad. The winner gets an opportunity to make another short film at the cost of the center. The complete infrastructure of the academy is at the disposal of that filmmaker. The organization believes that a talented person must be given more chances to show their caliber.
