ASUDA is an NGO working for Combating Violence Against Women was founded in 2000 and registered in May 2001 in Sulaymaniyah with the Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Cooperation in Iraqi Kurdistan. ASUDA is dedicated to combating violence against women through an institutional and systematic approach in order to enhance the status of women and strengthen civil society through participation of women.

ASUDA's Programme Manager, Ms. Khanim Rahim Latif, an independent women’s rights advocate and development professional serves as chief liaison with the Board of Directors and the organization’s three functional departments, Protection, Awareness and Research, which are led by Ms. Banaz Mawlood, and Mr. Awat Muhammed, all professionals in their respective fields. The ASUDA Board of Directors includes:

Ms. Narmin Othman, Iraqi Minister of Environment.
2.
Ms. Roonak Rauf, president of the Women’s Information Center.
3.
Mr. Ragner Hansen, formerly with Norwegian People’s Aid, currently in Norway.
4.
Ms. Hanaa Edward, member of Iraqi Amal Association.
5.
Ms. Rezan Yaseen, Women's Rights Activist.

Asuda strives to combat violence against women using institutional and systematical approaches, has a wide program for upbringing women’s situation to a better situation and participate in the strengthening of the civil society through activities of promoting gender equality.

It is imperative to highlight that Asuda is not the only organization that deals with the women issues and violation against women. However, Asuda is the only non-affiliated NGOs working on women issues.

The organizational structure of Asuda comprises Board of Trustees (Advisory Board) on top of the organization. Under the Board of Trustees, Administration Board follows which consists of 6 members namely, Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, Accountant, Protection Department Chief, Awareness Department Chief and Research Department Chief) who all supervise the work of their staff.
