These are the official results of the Men's Long Jump event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. The qualifying stage and the final both were held on the second day of the track and field competition, on Saturday November 24, 1956.

The qualifying distance of 7.15 metres (23 ft. 5½ in.), although five centimetres less than at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, was beyond the capacity of more than half the 32 starters and only 13 took part in the competition proper. The two Americans, Gregory Bell and John Bennett, out-jumped the field. Performances were generally higher than at Helsinki but did not endanger Jesse Owens' 1936 Olympic record.
