There are stereotyped perceptions on Aucklanders, the residents of Auckland, New Zealand.

Aucklanders are known to be as a seperate culture and people to the rest of New Zealand due to geographic seperation, economic power and racial diversity, especially in attitudes and behaviour.

The seperation from the rest of the North Island by the Bombay Hills gives Aucklanders their own sort of land, where Aucklanders have developed their own sort of culture that almost mimmicks that of a stereotypical American. These people are generally referred to as (colloquially or offensively) JAFAs.

It is thought that:
  • Some Aucklanders are ignorant of New Zealand south of the Bombay Hills and assume that New Zealand stops at the Bombay Hills.
  • Aucklanders are known for aggressive driving and speeding due to their dependance on the freeway system, Aucklanders are known to drive large SUVs and are constantly caught in traffic relating to the very overloaded Auckland roading system.
  • Aucklanders are known to mimmick Americans in having SUVs, miniscule cellphones, large apartment blocks contrasting to miles of low-lyign urban sprawl and dependance on freeways.
  • Like many cities, different types of Aucklanders come from individual parts of the city, eg North Aucklanders are Yuppies, West Aucklanders are violent, etc.
