Audio Lunchbox, also known as ALB, is an online music store founded in April 2003. ALB offers music in DRM-free MP3 format. Customers may purchase individual songs for $0.99, and a subscription plan is available which offers a substantial discount. ALB's catalog features music licenced by independent labels.

Note: December 2006: It appears that Audio Lunchbox works with major credit cards, but not with Pay Pal. One must register to use their service, and to do so, one must reveal his/her exact date of birth. But note: per their customer service they do accept Pay Pal, and their date of birth request is for analysis of demographics only, not absolutely required.

This is a well organized web site, with many classical (and other) albums available in mp3 format, either the entire album, or individual tracks. It is definitely worth investigating!
