ATC Labs is an audio and multimedia development company founded in
New Jersey,
U.S.A. in the year 2004.
The company was founded by a group of
Bell Labs alumnus including,
Dr. Deepen Sinha,
Dr. Anibal Ferreira and
Mr.Andre Partyka.
ATC Labs' audio division recently introduced a new suite of codec products, marketed under the name TeslaPro.
Currently, it provides product upgrade services to
Sirius satellite radio for its PAC4 codec, as well as the statistical multiplexing technology, and maintains collaborative agreements with other research organizations.
On the services side, ATC Labs offers support for customer's in-house audio and/or multimedia technology development projects, out-sourced technology development, subjective audio quality evaluation, and assistance in optimizing the sound quality performance of audio broadcast studios.
Apart from its Design, Test and Development center in
U.S. the company has its Software and Technology Development Center in
Noida,
India.
The
Noida center is being operated through its wholly owned subsidiary, Audio Technologies and Codecs (India) Private Limited.
Products
Audio Technology
TeslaPro
TeslaPro comprises of audio and speech compression codec technologies and may be used individually or as an integrated codec operating in the range of 4-96kbps.
TeslaPro utilizes enhanced auditory perception modeling and signal processing techniques.
Audio Communication Coder (ACC)
The ACC codec is designed to offer extremely low end-to-end delay by minimizing the size of the transform, look-ahead and bit-stream buffers.
Audio Bandwidth Extension Toolkit (ABET)
ABET is a stand-alone toolkit which can be integrated with any low bandwidth audio codec scheme to improve its audio bandwidth capability.
ABET is based on ATC Labs' two patent pending algorithms namely, Accurate Spectral Replacemet(ASR) and Fractal Self Similarity Model(FSSM).
ABET also incorporates a third essential tool, Multi Band Temporal Audio Coding(MBTAC).
Immersive Soundfield Rendition System (ISR)
Immersive Soundfield Rendition (ISR) system is an in-house low bit rate multi-channel audio codec ( 5.1-channel system).
The ease of scalability of the surround image, anywhere between 2 and 12 Kbps, and its high quality audio with feature rich add-ons make the tool superior to its market peers.
This high quality multi-channel audio compression tool is engineered with a state of the art patent pending algorithm namely, Multi Band Temporal Audio Coding (MBTAC).
A conventional stereo encoder can be upgraded to behave as a multi-channel encoder with the aid of an associated low overhead ISR bitstream.
Modes of operation:
12 Kbps – Detailed Multichannel Reproduction 8 Kbps – High Quality Multichannel reproduction 5 Kbps – Realistic Multichannel Reproduction 0–2 Kbps – Blind Upmixing (2-to-5 Channel)Applications:
Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) systems Terrestrial DAB systems Multichannel audio streaming Surround sound playback systemsA key idea in ISR coding is that the spatial localization cues of the original Multichannel audio are accurately reproduced with the aid of a multi-band temporal envelope generated on a detailed time-frequency grid.
Coding of multi-band temporal envelope, Multi-band Temporal Amplitude Coding (MBTAC), involves an initial utility filter bank (UFB) analysis.
The sub-bands of the UFB are successively grouped in a perceptually motivated manner followed by quantization and coding.
The bit requirement for MBTAC is further reduced by exploiting the correlation in frequency of the multiple time domain envelopes.
Features:
Phase Compensated 2-to-5 Channel Downmixing Acoustic Diversity Creation 2-to5 Channel Upmixing on 0 Kbps Support for Constant Bit rate Operates on different bit rates Teslapro or any other conventional stereo encoder can be upgraded to a multi-channel system using specialized modes of ISR thereby, providing an universal solution to audio systems.
Some of the key features of ISR system include:
Full backward compatibility to stereo equipment Blind Upmixing (2-to-5 channel) Acoustic Diversity Creation Phase Compensated Downmix (5-to-2 Channel)Audio Noise Reduction Toolkit
Noise Reduction Toolkit is a psychoacoustic based noise removal technique to restore an audio from a noisy audio/recording.
This technology is based on an ingenious patent pending algorithm developed at ATC Labs.
Audio Post Processing Toolkit
Most modern digital audio compression technologies use some form of stereo limiting leading to stereo shrinkage.
In addition, bandwidth limitation in lossy coding schemes results in significant loss of perceived
