The auric is the currency of the fictional state Domination of the Draka in S. M. Stirling's Domination trilogy. It is a gold-backed currency, equivalent to 0.1 troy ounces of gold (about US$60 now) and is divided into 10 denarii and 100 pennies. By coincidence, it was also the name for the basic currency in Galactica 1980, which is rather inexplicable as the same unit was called a Cubit in both the 1979 and 2004 versions of Battlestar Galactica.

In 1942 the Auric was worth $3.72. The following table lists 1942 wages and prices - in Archona (OTL Pretoria) unless otherwise mentioned. Since this is a society based on slavery, the prices mentioned include the price of slaves ("serfs"), who are considered a commodity like all others:
