== Autorune ==
Autorune was an automating program made by
Kaitnieks for
Runescape. Autorune is no longer in
continued-development.
Autorune worked by sending commands,
normally sent through the regular
Runescape client. Autorune was sold by Kaitnieks
on November 01, 2002 to a user by the name of "Coran". Since then
many imitations have come up such as, "American-Bot", a similar
program. But American-Bot was a modified client rather than
Autorune, which was more of a
compiler.
History of Autorune
After
Jagex discovered the use of
Autorune they implemented some changes to Runescape, such as adding
fatigue, which required the player to find a bed or use his
sleeping-bag to rest. When you rested you saw a screen which
required you to enter a random series of characters. This stopped
Autorune cheating for awhile until Sleepwalker, a sort of
peer-to-peer add-on, that allowed users to type each other's sleep
words.
Bannings
On December 13, 2002, Jagex
implemented a small piece of coding to the actual Runescape client,
which caused the client to send a useless command to the server
after 45 clicks on any intractable object. Autorune didnt send that
command to it was easy for
Jagex to distinguish who was using the
illegal-program. This created a shock for the cheating communities.
After this unfortunate event there was a silence throughout all of
them.

On April 09, 2003, Autorune was updated
,after a long idle, to send the additional commands that the normal
client did.
