The Ayrshire Astronomical Society (AAS) was re-formed as a non-profit organisation in 1992, to serve as a meeting and discussion forum for a growing number of amateur astronomers based in Ayrshire and surrounding counties.

AAS meetings are held on a monthly basis, providing members with the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and catch-up with the latest Astronomical and Society news. Informative newsletters are regularly published and contain news on astronomical events.

The AAS organises group and public observing sessions using telescopic or non-telescopic and photographic observing techniques. Practical projects, including the construction of telescopes and other observational aids, are also in progress.
