B.I.S.T., (Behavioral Intervention Support Team, BIST), is a behavioral modification system developed by Ozanam.
Ozanam is a large, residential education institution in the
Kansas City area and is marketing BIST to school districts in at least 5 states throughout the Midwest to the tune of millions of dollars.
It was originally designed for use with troubled teens in a reform school environment.
It is also related to, and perhaps developed from, PBS programs which were designed for use with at-risk/special-needs students.
According to Ozanam, "The Behavior Intervention Support Team (BIST) grew out of a desire to keep at-risk students in a community school."
The BIST program has been adopted by hundreds of schools throughout the Midwest.
In Missouri, for example, the Missouri State Board of Education sponsors it through continuing education/professional development training and seminars <ref>
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Division of School Improvement - Curriculum Services</ref> and tax dollars are spent adopting the program in schools state wide.
The BIST program affects thousands of children and parents throughout the region.
Some <ref>
