B. P. Govinda is a former player and captain of the Indian field hockey team.

He played for India in the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok, 1972 Summer Olympics at Munich 1973 Hockey World Cup in Amsterdam 1974 Asian Games in Teheran 1975 World Cup at Kuala Lumpur in 1976 at Montreal Olympics and 1978 Asian Games.

In 1972 Govinda was selected for the World XI team. He was born on 4 March 1951 at Somwarpet in Coorg district of Karnataka. He was awarded Arjuna Award for his contribution.
