Every weekday the presenter of BBC North West Today, a television news programme broadcast on British channel BBC ONE, Gordon Burns plays a word game with the weather presenter standing next to his desk. The weather presenter, usually female, presents her report and slips in the secret word of the day several times. After the report is finished, Burns guesses what the word was and the weather presenter gives the answer.

It is an unusual and unprofessional game that often confuses new viewers.
