Born A.
Wicker in the city of
Compton, Dre’sta and his brother B.G.
Knocc Out both made a name for themselves on the streets after their mother went to jail when they were both only very young.
Growing up, nobody looked out for Dre’sta or B.G. which soon made them turn to gang banging as a way of life and as consequently for this Dre’sta was sentenced to ten years behind bars leaving his brother B.G. to fend for himself.
Despite all his problems, Dre’sta still found the time write and freestyle his lyrics with other prisoners whilst he was locked up.
When Dre’sta was released from prison, he and B.G. both continued trying to make it big within the rap game and eventually signed with Toenail Records, although only for a very short time.
Toenail Records acquired Dre’sta and B.G Knocc Out the once in a life time opportunity to work with the late
N.W.A member and
Ruthless Records owner,
Eazy-E.
The chance was great and Eazy added the voice of Dre’sta and B.G.
Knocc Out to his “It’s on [Dr.Dre] 187um Killa” EP.
Whilst
Eazy-E’s EP was getting full media coverage, Dre’sta and B.G. took the time out to write their own personal solo tracks, however using their experience from the track “Real Muthaphukkin’ G’s”, the two young rappers realised that their unique sound was good material for an album together; combining Dre’sta’s O.G.
Style and voice with B.G’s younger sounding delivery.
For this album the duo signed to Def Jam / Outburst records where they decided on the name for their up and coming album, ‘Real Brothas’.
Famous production appearances took the stand for this album from the likes of Rhythm D, Charlie B Madness 4 Real and Domino.
After
Real Brothas Dre’sta and B.G.
Knocc Out continued to work with
Eazy-E to compile his new up and coming album
“Str8 off tha streetz of muthaphukkin Compton”, however the album was not released until after Eazy passed away in 1995.
After this sad time Dre’sta and B.G. ended the beef following the track “Real Muthaphukkin’ G’z” between them and
Tha Doggpound.
In 1999 B.G.
Knocc Out was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, leaving Dre’sta without the other half of the duo which made them famous, however using his already gained respect within the music industry, Dre’sta continued to work with westcoast artists such as MC Eiht, Jayo Felony, Mausberg (R.I.P), King Owl, Leicy Loc, Young Shane, King T and W.C.
With this Dre’sta realised that he was not only known for his sound with his brother B.G.
Knocc Out, but also as a solo artist.
Dre’sta is now signed with Industry Phunk Entertainment where he is currently working on his solo project.
B.G.
Knocc Out’s sentence was cut short and he is set to be released in 2006 which will spark a whole new era for the rap duo and their unique style, B.G. plans to release a solo project as well as an album with Dre’sta which they both promise you will set a new pace for the Compton sound.
