Battle Zone Wrestling

Battle Zone Wrestling is a wrestling promotion Based in Spartanburg,South Carolina that has a roster of 50 men and 20 women. BZW has 2 weekly shows and every month one big show. It Has Wednesday Night Havoc and Saturday Night Smashdown aired on local Television every saturday and wednesday nights. BZW Has Also Gotten Popular On Youtube thanks to Founder and Owner Of BZW Anthony Lida Using his account Doomy1216isback to gain publicity with matches compilations and even a weekly webshow BZW Breakdown.

WFO

in Late 1991 Martin Rolans Created Wrestling Freakshow Organization which was a wrestling federation for kids two to seventeen years of age. Until 1999 WFO Had No Competitors until People that the company fired or people that just left started DMW Death Match Wrestling. They had a better appeal than the clearly scripted WFO by hiding the scripted fighting and making it look more real. Over Half of WFO's roster went to DMW causing WFO to declare bankruptcy in 2000 when this happened DMW shortly after shut down in July 2000 leaving lots of people without jobs.

The Revolution

While WFO and DMW were gone, The kids went to other companys such as ETW XWF and HWA until Anthony lida who had been on top of WFO when it closed decided to start his own company Battle Zone Wrestling Started on Feburary 21st 2003 with an hour long show that included a 60 minute iron man match between Anthony and his cousin Gideon. After this amazing show fans started flooding in and wrestlers started coming in as well. Soon the roster grew from 2 to nearly 100.

BZW

The Thing that made BZW different and superior to other styles of backyard wrestling was that they threw out the script of proffesional wrestling and instead strengthened their athletes to pull off their moves with no help from the opponent. This brought on a more violent version of backyard wrestling with crazier moves and crazier weapons such as barbed wire fireworks and lighttubes. BZW continued to Be on top until 2006

Wrestlefest 03

March 31st 2003 BZW held its first PPV Which was a parody of Wrestlemania which was happining that weekend. The Card was one of the best BZW has ever had to this day it was Awesome AJ vs JK Crazy in a Last man standing match. Gideon vs Dillan vs Brandon vs Tokana Rana in a Fatal 4 way. and Braxton vs Anthony for the BZW world championship.

heading into 04

from march until december of 03 it seemed ok BZW did great in ratings and was selling out the Peavy dome every show. But in January 2004 BZW suffered the worst roster cut Wrestling has ever seen their roster went from 90 to 20 in 2 days flat. BZW had a horrible year in 2004 doing horrible in ratings and were sometimes lucky to get one fan in the crowd.

Shut Down

In October 2006 Anthony was absent from the company giving Braxton Head control and he decided to shut down BZW scince the wrestlers were getting hurt for no crowd.

Youtube Fame

During the shut down BZW got really popular on youtube with reruns of BZW Saturday Night Smashdown. The Fans Starting Begging for new matches so in February 2007 BZW reopened with a re edited remastered version of Braxton and Anthonys wrestlefest 2003 match. then released a first season of BZW on youtube.

First Season Controversy

the first season of BZW on youtube caused controversy because it was just WFO footage from when BZW shut down until march 20th 2007. It Featured Chris Colby and Anthony along with Danny Danger and many more in WFO matches that show a different style than BZW a slower more scripted style.

BZW Started with the Match Anthony and Colby vs Chris in march 2007 that was the original match that BZW put out that wasnt WFO footage. From then on BZW got Better more hardcore more insane with more kids and more fans. leading up to the summer 07 season

Summer 07

When Summer 2007 started BZW hit an all time High with more fans than they ever dreamed so they kicked it up a knotch by keeping the scripted style they had scicne its rebirth and stregthening the wrestlers to make them to cooler moves EX the cross bomb and the Nighty Night
but Anthony Injured his neck in june and put BZW on hold until late July when he returned in the middle of a Chris and Colby match to reveal he was El Atomico . then he faced devan and chris again in 2 more matches to finish up season 3.

Season 4 and Partnership with AHWF

Season 4 came with a new trend of no rules no limits which saw BZW go back to the original style that made them famous in 03 the scuicidal insane style of wrestling. introducing Dark Angel and Gavin to the youtube audience. With Season 4 one of BZW's Biggest Fans Jrodwwe94 Started AHWF American Hardcore Wrestling Federation with Bloodnight92 and decided to make a partnership with BZW. where they will share ideas promote each other and they even have a BZW vs AHWF show planned in 2010.
