Bad Lady was recorded and released by
Mercury Records artists
Con Funk Shun in 1981.
It was the featured single on "7", the group's seventh album with the label.
Written by band members
Louis A.
McCall and Danny A.
Thomas with lyrics by
Linda Lou McCall, and produced by Skip Scarborough, the song made it to #19 with a bullet on
Billboard magazine's Top R&B Singles chart in January 1982.
The tune was inspired by screen great Mae West's memorable cinema quote "When I'm good, I'm very good.
But when I'm bad, I'm better." which came to the attention of lyricist
Linda Lou McCall when the silver screen legend died on
November 22, 1980.
"Bad Lady" is still a mainstay on the compilation CDs such as "Best of Con Funk Shun" (1993), "Greatest Hits" (1998), and "The Definitive Con Funk Shun" (2006) CDs.
