Balakovo (Russian: Балако́во) is a town in Saratov Oblast, Russia. Founded in 1762, town status since 1913. Population: 200,470 (2002 Census).

Balakovo is the location of the Saratov Hydroelectric Station on the Volga River and the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant. It is served by Balakovo Airport which currently does not work.

There is a speedway team called SK Turbina.
