Balehonnur(Kannada: ಬಾಳೆಹೊನ್ನೂರ್) is a Small City in the Chikkamagaluru district of the Indian state of Karnataka. Town is located on bank of Bhadra river and is a green, picturesque place,with an average rainfall of 80 inches a year and dominated by coffee estates, arecanut, paddy fields, pepper, vanilla and other spices. It is the location of the main Hindu Matha belonging to veerashiva pantha called as, Sri Rambhapuri Matha. It is one of the oldest temple in Karnataka. The main crop in this and surrounding area is Coffe. It is junction for routes Chikkamagaluru, Kudremukha, Sringeri-Koppa and Shivamogga.
Balehonnur Bridge was the first project undertaken by MCC in 1946 - this masonry bridge was constructed across the river Bhadra at Balehonnur, Chikmagalur, Karnataka.
An industry famous for its pickles marketed in the name "Vanasri" started in the late Eighties. It was started by Late Mr. Vidyanand Bhat bringing in traditional flavour in the pickles. The brand is now expanded to squashes, fruit juices, spices, Ready to serve foods etc. A must visit place for anyone visiting balehonnur. Presently the owner is Mr.B.V.Deepak.
