Band-Aid Bandit (previously known as the
Beer Belly Bandit) was the name given to a man who
was responsible for 39 bank robberies, completed over the course of
five and a half years in or around the Tampa, Florida area
from 2000 to 2006. The Band-Aid moniker was granted to
him beacuase of a small bandage that was present on the subject's
left cheek - it would later be discoverd that the bandage's purpose
was to hide an identifiable facial mole.
On
February 10th 2006, the Band-Aid Bandit was captured at his home in
Clermont, Florida. He was then identified
as 50-year old Rafael Angel Rondon. It has been determined that
Rondon netted more the $500,000.00 from his activities.
In
addition to Rondon, a second suspect was apprehended on the same
day: 54-year old Emeregildo Roman, who was an accomplice in the
crimes.
