Barry Livingston (born December 17, 1953) is an American television and film actor. Livingston is perhaps best known for his role as Ernie Douglas on the television series My Three Sons. He is the younger brother of actor/director Stanley Livingston.

Biography

Career

Born in Los Angeles, Livingston began his career as a child actor in the 1960s. His first onscreen appearance was in a small, uncredited role in the 1961 film The Errand Boy, followed by roles in The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet and The Dick Van Dyke Show. In 1963, he joined the cast of the ABC sitcom My Three Sons as Ernie. His older brother, Stanley, was already a series regular. After Tim Considine left the series two years later, Livingston joined the cast permanently and remained with the series until its end in 1972.In 1964, at the age of ten, he appeared in the ABC medical drama about psychiatry, Breaking Point in the episode entitled "A Land More Cruel".

After the series run of My Three Sons, Livingston landed roles in Room 222 and The Streets of San Francisco. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he continued to work steadily in both films and television including Police Woman, Sidewinder 1, Simon & Simon, and 1st & Ten.

In 2007, Livingston had a guest spots in the series Mad Men, and appeared in Zodiac. He also had a major role in the Hallmark Channel movie "Final Approach." In 2008 Livingston was in an episode of Two and a Half Men as Sam.

Personal life

In 1983, Livingston married Karen Huntsman. The couple has two children.
