Baruch Lumet (1898-1992) was a Jewish actor best known for his work in the Yiddish theater. The father of film director Sidney Lumet, he was born in Warsaw, Russian Empire. Although he appeared alongside his son in the film One Third Of a Nation in 1939, the elder Lumet made few film appearances, though he played character roles in two of Sidney's films from the 1960s, The Pawnbroker (1964), and The Group (1966). He also appeared in Woody Allen's comedy Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask, improbably cast as a bondage fetishist.
