Basic Body Awareness is a method within physiotherapy that integrates European traditions of movement and biomedical knowledge with the East Asian traditions of movement, Tai chi and Zen meditation.

The method was originally developed by Jacques Dropsy and has been further evolved by the Norwegian physiotherapist Gertrud Roxendal and by members of the Swedish Institute for Basic Body Awareness.

Training Basic Body Awareness shall lead to better body awareness and give a balanced posture, relaxed and well-coordinated movement patterns and a natural integration between breath and movement. The training stimulate you to reflect upon habitual patterns and challenge your ability to be mentally present. Thru deepened experience of the exercises your own will to change and your possibilities to discover your own bodily and mental resources.

Basic Body Awareness therapy has proved to have good effect on problems with tension and stress as well as psychological difficulties.
