Geographic distribution:	Sumatra, Indonesia
Genetic classification:	Austronesian Malayo-Polynesian Nuclear MP Northwest Sumatran Batak
Subdivisions:	—
ISO 639-2 and 639-5:	`btk`

The seven Batak languages are spoken by the Batak people in the highlands of North Sumatra, Indonesia. They use the Batak alphabet. The languages are,

Northern Batak: Pak-Pak Dairi, Batak Karo, Batak Alas-Kluet
Batak Simalungun
Southern Batak: Batak Angkola, Batak Toba, Batak Mandailing

There is also a Palawan Batak language, which is Austronesian but not otherwise related.
