Battle Zone Wrestling (usually typeset as BaTTle
ZOne WrestLing) or simply "BZW" is a wrestling federation founded
and run in
Enoree,
South
Carolina. It was founded in 2003 on February 21st and has so
far been running for 5 years. It is best known for its style of
wrestling with matches mostly taking place on a
Trampoline that was modified to
be more like a wrestling ring. As of May 10th 2008, BZW has a
roster of 26 wrestlers on 2 brands (Bloodfest and Aftershock). BZW
is often critisized as being a "wannabe" wrestling federation and
promoting children to cause harm to their selves. BZW has witnessed
one death inside the company although the cause was not of
wrestling reasons. "Dark Angel" Jordan Walker was killed in a car
crash on February 2nd 2008 at the age of 16 he was BZW's oldest
member.

Early Days
Anthony Lida
and his cousin Gideon Henderson founded Battle Zone Wrestling in
December of 2002 but it wasnt until February 21st 2003 until the
first show was held, therefore, leading to most people, including
the company to count that as the official birthday of the company.
The first show only had one match it was a 60 minute ironman match
between Gideon Henderson and Anthony Lida. There was no crowd and
barely anyone knew of BZW. At the time the other federations such
as Wrestling Freakshow Organization and Hardcore Championship
Wrestling (Both located around the same area as BZW) so they didn't
pay any attention to BZW. So Anthony asked his good friends the
Peavy's, Braxton and Brandon to join BZW along with their cousin
Dillan. So the roster went from 2 to 5 in one week. The second show
got more attention thanks in part to the addition of former WFO
wrestler Dillan "The
Clemson Tiger" Collins. With such recognition from
other companies, BZW quickly added onto their roster expanding from
5 to 20 in less than a month. Just a couple of the wrestlers they
accquired from other companies include Tokana Rana, Awesome AJ, JK
Crazy, and Damien Gregory. During the following months of BZW they
began to dominate the independent scene in the Upstate of South
Carolina, eventually putting competitor, WFO, out of business in
July 2003. With WFO out of the way and over half of HCW's roster
gone to BZW, BZW took over as the number 1 wrestling federation in
Upstate, South Carolina. The early story of BZW is rarely believed
to be true and often widely considered as a hoax. When asked about
this Founder and Owner Anthony Lida said "Of course people will be
skeptical i mean, if you don't live here then you can't understand
the whole scene in our area. And damn kids doing this shit makes it
seem even more fucked up but still, swear to satan that its all
true." The quote from that quote "swear to satan" caused an uproar
for parents of some BZW wrestlers. They began to think Anthony was
pushing his
Satanist
religon on the rest of BZW's roster. As a result of that, heavy
christian, Martin Martinson was removed from BZW by his mother.
