==Battlefield Podcast==

Battlefield Podcast is a website dedicated to making podcasts about the latest news for the online multiplayer first person shooter game Battlefield 2 (BF2). Some of the topics include new game patches, interviews with fan site admins and EA and Digital Illusions CE representatives, tips, tweaks, user submitted audio questions, and mod updates. You can download MP3 and QuickTime audio-only versions, and "enhanced" WMV and MP4 video versions. The enhanced versions feature videos and footage to accompany the audio. There are other ways, such as Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) suscriptions, that allow users to listen the podcasts.

There are three hosts, Chalk.One, Chalk.Two and G.I. Jersey, who run the show. Sonic Valley, a company that specializes in custom audio for games, helps the podcasts by providing announcements and other sound effects to enhance the shows. Members of the BF2 fansite Total Battlefield 2 provide feedback, comments and questions for the three hosts, in attempt to improve or learn more about the informative podcasts. The podcasts are very unique because they offer communication and opinions of representatives and officals that cannot be found anywhere else.

Background

Battlefield Podcast (BFP) was founded in April 2006 by Chalk.One and Chalk.Two. The inspiration behind the show was that we wanted to have a forum where to discuss our views of the Battlefield franchise. The show quickly grew to include a third host, G.I.Jersey, weekly news, exclusive interviews, tips & tweaks, and a much more professional polish.

Shows are released on a weekly cycle and as of today (July 7th, 2006) thirteen (13) episodes have been released. Our listenership has consistently grown on a global basis, even to the extent of the Battlefield game developers listening on a regular basis.

How it works

In the beginning all our recordings were done using Skype and a third-party application called HotRecorder. In an effort to increase audio quality, the current shows are being recorded locally as multiple streams and then merged in post-production. At the moment the BFP is trying to raise funds in order to ugrade their audio equipment from simple gaming headsets to professional grade recording equipment. You can help the effort by visiting http://www.battlefieldpodcast.com/index_nosub.php?id=32

Not just podcasts

BFP also owns a 64 player online BF2 server, hosted by Freaks-Networks and SnM Servers, Inc, that runs various maps. The hosts frequently play on it, along with many other people from around the world.

In addition to a BF2 server, BFP has a public TeamSpeak server hosted by MyGamingServers.
