Being There is a American magazine devoted to music, film and popular culture.

History

Founded in Toronto in 2004 by Adam D.
Miller, Cari Crosby, Adam M. Anklewicz, Shel Desormeaux, Brighid Mooney, Jennifer Halpern and Aaron Licht, Being There is an online music, film and culture magazine that rides the fringe between mainstream popular culture and alternative or unheralded work. It's initial aim was to present a monthly print-style magazine in an online setting, but has since changed its production schedule to bi-monthly, with smaller updates between issues. Despite focusing primarily on music, Being There has featured comedy, film and literature as featured topics.

Highlights

Since February 2005, Being There has featured the original comic 'I Wanna See The Nashville Lights', a twisted look at Americana.
Since September 2005, the comic has been illustrated by Mike Alves, who has since become a staff contributor.

Being There strives to promote music and culture with depth, integrity and intelligence.
Recent interviews include singer-songwriters Sufjan Stevens, Michael Penn, Robbie Fulks and Jolie Holland, comedians Patton Oswalt, Lewis Black and Greg Proops, and legendary figures such as Tommy Smothers, Colin Blunstone of The Zombies and Kinky Friedman.
