Ben Allgood(October 6, ????), is an American artist,
avant-garde filmmaker, writer and creative director of the Ben Allgood Studio.
Allgood also worked as a (magazine) publisher, model, commercial artist and actor.
With his background and experience in commercial art and the internet, Allgood was one of the founders of the Strategic/Viral/
Grassroots movement for film and music online.
Biography----
Allgood was born as John Whitt in
Winston Salem, North Carolina.
His parents, Henry (Gray) Whitt (original surname was Vhittmen, he changed it after coming to US) and Laura Eve Davis.
In first grade, Allgood it is believed to have stuffed a ballot box amongst his classmates to have his
paper mache fish entered in the state fair- it won the blue ribbon; in third
grade he won another state contest and won season tickets to the sympathy; thus the beginning of the association of art and music.
Allgood showed early artistic talent and studied art under the mentor, Jim Evans.
Evans found a forgotten portfolio on an airplane while traveling; it turned out to be Allgood's.
Evans offered him his first paying art gig for the Smashing Pumpkins.
In
2002, he moved to
Arizona and began a successful career in design illustration and advertising.
He became well-known mainly for his high profile websites and marketing campaigns for films and rock bands.
Allgood was dubbed "The Youth Marketing Miracle".
In the mid 2000's, Allgood began extend his business art into a fine art direction doing commissioned portraits for figures such as
Nancy Sinatra,
Billy Corgan, and
Alice Cooper.
Allgood began directing and filming for rock bands like
Zwan,
Jimmy Eat World, and
Smashing Pumpkins.
Allgood has remained a mystery and is typically evasive when being interviewed.
Allgood's close acquaintances and friends offer little help as to who he really on a personal level.
