Beth Hedva (born Beth Hedva Milinsky
August 28,
1955 in
Detroit, Michigan) is an internationally recognized
psychologist and authority in the still-emerging fields of transpersonal psychology and cross-cultural spiritual traditions.
A member of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Psychologists, she had been honored as an International Woman of the Year in
Cambridge,
England by age 35, listed in the World
Who's Who of Women a year later and nominated to the first Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
She has built a global reputation for combining ancient mystical traditions with contemporary clinical techniques to develop new and enlightened ways to succeed in meeting life's greatest challenges.
At conferences internationally, she trains psychologists and professors of psychology in intuition development and psychic phenomenon as well as introduces the clinical use of tarot, palmistry and astrology as "transpersonal" counselling tools.
She is also licensed as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor, a
California certified Sexologist, a board certified Hypnotherapist and is a Clinical Parapsychologist -- having worked as an ‘Expert Intuitive’ and liaison to the Office of Paranormal Investigation in the USA.
Dr.
Hedva is certified as a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Psychological Specialties; she joined the Faculty of JFK University in Orinda, California at age 25, and was the Director of Clinical Internships and Field Placement at two universities in California before age 35.
She continues to train counselling professionals globally as Chair of Continuing Education for the International Council of Psychologists and is on the Faculty of the Global Program of the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology, while living on the Bow River in Calgary, Canada.
Overwhelmed by the
Tsunami's devastation and loss of over 170,000 lives in the province of
Banda Aceh (two thirds of all deaths in all countries combined), the Indonesian Psychology Association asked for Dr. Hedva to create a cross-cultural counselling approach for the region.
She was flown to
Jakarta where she taught the program for psychologists and counsellors at
Tarumanagara University and the
University of Indonesia.
The success of her training programs were such that a year later Atma Jaya University and an Achenese NGO flew her back in early
2006, this time to the devastated area of Banda Aceh, where she trained indigenous counsellors and psychologists who had survived the destruction of more than 670 hospitals and clinics, 2000 schools and entire communities.
