To what extent does the work
of William O. Douglas, a former Associate Justice of the U.S.
Supreme Court, have relevance in the predicament of the U.S. that
prevails today in Iran? Justice Douglas traveled extensively in the
lands of the Kurdish people and he wrote one or more books about
his experiences. Regretably, in his own country, Justice Douglas
was widely criticised owing to his liberal position on many issues
that he had been identified with before his appointment to the
Court; and his rulings as a Justice were often categorized in the
same fashion. But Douglas contributed vastly to the the Warren
court, which today is recognized as the leading tribunal during the
20th century of the High Court.
