Beyond This Point (BTP) is an Alternative metal/ Alternative rock
band originally formed in Toledo, Ohio in 2006. The band originally
consisted of 5 members, all products of Toledo Central Catholic
High School,. Lead singer/ Lead Guitarist Steve Phillips (formerly
of Product of Neglect), Drummer Andrew Welter, Guitarist Michael
Garvin, Bassist Tom Syzmanski, and Lead Vocalist, Frontman Nick
Reynolds, were the original line up whom pieced together such
notable songs as: “Swore it was You”, “Notice to Vacate”, and their
first single, “Life Stuck in Take 2.”
As time passed and the
summer of 2006 ended, changes to the band were made. Michael
Garvin, who attended Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio,
left to head back to for the fall semester. At this time, the band
brought in Jason Fox of Temperance, Michigan to fill in. Jason Fox
remains as current member of Beyond This Point. Also near this
time, Drummer Chris Parton(also of former Product of Neglect) was
added to the band, as Andrew Welter transitioned to keyboard and
synthesizer bringing another element to the band’s patent
sound. BTP played their first show on the campus of Wright State
University; this would prove to be their only show with the
original 5 members.
The current band Lineup
features:
Nick Reynolds—Frontman
Steve
Phillips—Vocals/ Guitar
Jason Fox—Guitar Tom
Syzmanski—Bass Andrew Welter—Keyboard/Synthesizer Chris
Parton—Drums
With numerous shows under their belt, BTP calls
Headliners in Toledo, their primary home—the venue in which they
played their first hometown show.
BTP has had the pleasure of
performing on the same ticket with such bands such as Rotation
(Detroit, MI), View From Everest (Cleveland, OH), Ashes of Soma
(Ontario, Canada), as well as other local bands such as Dying to
Know, Blunt Force Trauma and Selfles.
BTP seems to be well known
for both their music and their showmanship, putting together
brilliant sets filled with energy and visual stimulation. Crisp
guitar spins, backflips, synchronized jump sequences, stage diving
and much more. Whether a spectator from a far, or amidst a crowd of
people engaged in a full-scale mosh pit, their shows have received
praise from many.
In the Works Without a true
album constructed yet, recording is in the process. A few demo
productions have been made, but are not widely distributed do to
the lack of sound quality. A few tracks are leaked out to the
Internet world, but may seem difficult to come across. Most
notably, “Life Stuck in Take 2” was available for free download off
the band’s myspace page. Rumored recording is said to be being
done in a private home studio just across the Michigan/Ohio
borderline. There is no official release date of the
album.
