Bhopal Airport (IATA: BHOICAO: VABP) is a public domestic airport serving Bhopal in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The name of the airport is Raja Bhoj Airport. It is located in Bairagarh which lies 15 km (9.3 mi) north-west of Bhopal city center on National Highway 12.

Future Plans

Bhopal Airport is slated to become an international airport by 2010 with initial flights operating to the Middle East. It would be the third international airport in central India after Nagpur & Indore.

The plan is to increase the runway length in two stages, first to 9,000 ft (2,700 m) and then later to 11,500 ft (3,500 m).

A new terminal is planned and in the future, flights would also operate to South Asian Countries. The new terminal foundation stone was laid on 20th February,2009.
