Bhurabal(Bhura means Brown and Bal means hair) an acronym for the castes of Bhumihar, Rajput, Brahman(also called Babaji) and Kayastha(also called lala) taking first letter from all these communities. In Hindi this word means Brown Hair, but is most often used to describe the above group of people. The term was pioneered by Laloo Prasad Yadav, who often asked his followers to remove Bhurabal from society [214].
<br>Historians are not sure of origin of most of these people.Especially origin of Bhumihar,Rajput and Kayastha is in obscurity.it is assumed by historians that they mushroomed during the Islamic invasion of india and are currently looked upon as barrier of developments by some. It is said people of questionable or lower origin decided to upgrade themselves into caste hierarchy and they started claiming higher status by making some legends about their origin. People believe they deliberately tried to confuse masses about their true origin. Rajputs claimed Kshatriya status,Bhumihars claimed Brahman and Kayastha claimed descent from chittagupta-a god finding no reference in any hindu text. However researchers have exposed their true origin recently and their caste status looks suspicious now.
