Someone who accepts and/or espouses a fashionable idea after it has
been established in the mainstream and maintains it without a great
amount of critical thought. Although originally a gibe at the
right, the term is now used exclusively as a pejorative against the
liberal Left who acquiesce to such things as political correctness
and Anti-Americanism.
ETYMOLOGY
The term Bien Pensant
is French in origin and literally translated means 'good thinking'
or 'right thinking'. Its original usage carried the implications
being orthodox or conservative in one's views.
