The term Big Dyna was originally introduced as a video game programmed in the language native to the TI-89 graphing calculator.
The game itself played in a manner and with a similar objective to the original super mario brothers release for the Nintendo entertainment system.
The original meaning of Big Dyna is now almost never directly used in practice.
Soon after the release of the game, the term was used to refer to a particular obese restaurant hostess.
Allthough there is some confusion about who originally dubbed this hostess Big Dyna, it is typically attributed to ATR, a loose affiliation of friends who attended University High School in Tucson, Arizona from 1996 to 2000.
Since its adoption as a reference to this particular hostess, the term Big Dyna has broadened to describe an object that is either poor in quality or that is simply so old that it is no longer asthetically pleasing.
It is used to replace a given name of a person or object.
For instance the practice of naming an old car such as a 1982 4 door volvo sedan Big Dyna is completely acceptable.
