BioForce Nanosciences, Inc.
(BFNH.OB) develops and commercializes nanotechnology tools and applications for the life sciences.
In 2006, BioForce released its flagship instrumentation product, the
Nano eNabler™ system.
The
Nano eNabler™ system is a molecular printer that dispenses very small drops of liquid onto surfaces with precision and speed.
This innovative
SPT surface patterning tool, offers the scientist a practical solution to problems they encounter when developing ultra miniaturized bioanalytical and biomedical devices.
BioForce’s technology is being used for sensor functionalization, ECM (extracellular matrix) patterning and cell adhesion; printing proteins to guide neural cell growth; printing signaling proteins to study stem cell differentiation, multilayer soft lithography, bioactivation of microfluidics devices; and printing patterns of ECM proteins on different substrates to study their effect on the growth and differentiation of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs).
Based in
Ames, Iowa, BioForce Nanosciences has two major divisions: instruments and emerging technologies.
The instrument division includes the
Nano eNabler system and associated consumables (SPT™ print cartridges and Sindex™ substrates) and a surface decontamination device called the ProCleaner™ 440.
The emerging technologies division develops Nano eNabler-based applications for a variety of purposes.
The current application pipeline includes the patented ViriChip™ pathogen detection and identification system, the Chip-On-A-Tip™ ultra miniaturized cancer biomarker detection system, and a proprietary method for high throughput molecular interaction screening called FAST™ (Force Assessment Screening Technology).
In 2006, shipped its Nano eNabler printers to centers of research excellence as pilot sales placements.
The entrepreneurial researchers at these centers act as “early adopters” of BioForce’s practical tools and technologies.
The Nano eNabler system is becoming an integral component of various research programs at these centers and a shift to use in the production market (i.e., pharma) is a logical evolution of the Company’s marketing strategy.
The company doubled in size in 2006 and its growth has continued in 2007.
BioForce anticipates market expansion in North America, Europe, India and Japan.
To facilitate this growth the Company has completed very successful Asian road show and continues to take the technology to potential users worldwide.
