Bioimplantronics is the
science and
technology of biologically implantable and integrable
electronic devices.
It also refers to the devices themselves, namely
intracorporeal electronic devices and
systems (designed to be implanted into a
biological entity) that accept input signals and provide output signals through direct electrical integration with the entity's
central nervous system.
For example, fitted with a bioimplantronics communications system, the
future force warrior will be able to transmit his thoughts directly to his
blue force teammates.
Mechanizing humanity versus humanizing machinery, is there a difference?
Amid some controversy, many futurists predict an event that has been dubbed the "
Technological Singularity".
In much the same fashion as current models of the physical universe predict the existence of, yet fail to disambiguate, the
curvature singularity at the center of a black hole, current models of human social development predict humanity's eventual development of smarter-than-human intelligence without seing beyond that event.
Metaphorically then, this Technological Singularity is an "
event horizon" in human technological development beyond which we cannot see.
